Start Here: Welcome to My Blog
Starting a blog from a coffee shop… I’m finally living the cliché of my dreams.
This blog is a space for honest stories, thought-provoking questions, and practical tools for personal and collective growth. It’s inspired by my work as a coach, facilitator, and founder of The Lost Art of Random Conversations — and by my life as another human doing their best to make sense of it all and enjoy the journey.
Hey there —
Welcome to my blog and the world of The Lost Art of Random Conversations. This is a space for honest stories, thought-provoking questions, and practical tools for personal and collective growth. It’s inspired by my work as a coach, facilitator, and founder of The Lost Art of Random Conversations — and by my life as another human doing their best to make sense of it all and enjoy the journey.
I love to write. And I’m trying something new.
Even with that truth, I’ve often asked myself: “Who would actually want to read what I have to say?”
This blog is my latest experiment in answering that question — not just for others, but for myself.
Why this, why now
In 2023, I started my own business: Tom Karrel Coaching. While I spend most of my time working privately with individuals and groups, I wanted a space to share the insights, challenges, and beauty I’ve been uncovering along the way.
Writing has always helped me process what I’m learning — and this blog gives me a way to share that learning in real time.
I Like Social Media About as Much as a Fish Likes Air
People close to me have been nudging me to share more: my words, photos, thoughts, and stories. But social media never quite felt like my medium. So this is my next best step. A quieter corner of the internet where I can speak freely and invite others into the conversation.
Building community
Since I was a kid, I’ve loved bringing people together. I feel most alive and in flow when I’m connecting with others.
I believe that when we live in honest, collaborative, and closely connected communities, life gets simpler. We feel freer. We stop questioning who we are or why we’re here. We care more about our environment and feel a natural pull to leave things better than we found them.

What to expect
For now, I’m aiming to post once a month. That might shift — I’m already enjoying this process enough that it may grow into more.
You can subscribe for free to get new posts delivered straight to your inbox. And if it gains momentum, I may eventually offer a paid tier with deeper content. But for now, I’m keeping it simple, organic, and open.
And Because I Love Quotes…
Yes, I’m that guy. So to wrap up this welcome post, here’s one of my favorites:
“I will not follow where the path may lead, but I will go where there is no path, and I will leave a trail.”
— Muriel Strode (Wind-Wafted Wild Flowers, August 1903)
(Famously misattributed to Emerson — and yes, I may be the only one who cares.)
